Autumn Leaves
This is a painting of Field Maple leaves in the autumn. I see this tree every morning as I cycle to my studio on the banks of the Thames, but it comes into its own when the nights draw in and the first frost appears. It is painted on tinted Japanese paper made from linen, using traditional black Sumi ink and water colours made from minerals, and Chinese water colours. It is float mounted and framed in natural un-waxed Ash. The chop, placed above the signature using rouge paste, means Dancing Brush.
